Ideas from this article on Planning your Christmas list
Your list of family, relatives, and friends you want to give a gift
On-line research, eHow and Examiner articles, et al.
Notebook paper and pencil or pen
Digital camera or phone with camera
Copy machine access (option)
Computer with Scanner (option)
File folders for each Christmas gift list

Grab your mailing list and decide who gets a gift. We all know that not everyone on our mailing list usually gets a gift at Christmas.  Decide which individuals or families you want to include. If someone is to receive a special gift, make a mental note.  If you didn’t write down what they received last year, rack your memory and try to think.  Put a question mark down if you can’t recall. Pull out your notepad and pen and start planning your Christmas list.

Write down gift list  names in alphabetical order, last name first. This will make them easier to find later.  If you need to mail gift, write down updated address. If necessary, contact someone who has an updated address and correct your records. Jot down some recall notes about individual or family.  Keep your notes in bullet form. For example, “collects Butterflies” or “Boy Scout” or “devout Catholic,”  “likes home cooked meals.”  This way, you can plan on a special subject gift. Include family member names and ages if you have them. Try to put down notes that allow you to select a gift that will be unique and special, not a “re-gifting” type item. Start file folders per family or individual, include digital photos of similar gifts, magazine tear sheets, pictures, sketches, and notes  of simple items you want to copy and enhance, i.e., a painted white drink mug, some special note cards, kids picture album for grandparents, a childhood home photo, a kids toy box on wheels specially identified with name, a frozen special meal.

Put new Christmas gift plan list on your computer. This way you can easily update every year and pass it on to your immediate family members, do searches, print out copies, add pictures of items you find in magazine, catalogs, retail stores, and sketches you make of items you plan to make yourself.  Get your family involved in thinking and researching the types of gifts a particular family member, relative, or close friend would appreciate. Print out a master list with names and have each of your immediate family members brainstorm their notes and ideas for great gifts.  Make it a fun time for your family and a family tradition for years to come.  Put a final updated list on your crafts worktable or workbench or prime location for the entire family to see and check on the progress being made to complete the gifts and distribution. Mark a large calendar with dates to make and mail or send by shown beside each name. Happy Christmas gift list planning!

If you know the wishes of your elderly parents or your parents have prearranged their funeral, your job becomes a little easier. Let me walk you through the process we used in planning our mom’s memorial service.

Things You’ll Need:

Music
Pastor
Friends
Flowers
Food
Pictures
Church/Funeral parlor

Upon the death of your mom or dad you will immediately have to report it. If your elderly parent was terminally ill Hospice may be involved. Upon their last breath you will need to call Hospice, and then they will call the funeral home.
Your next step comes way too fast after death. You will have to talk to the funeral director and work out the details. You will be expected to pick out a casket and outfit in which they will be buried. You need to give them details and a picture for the obituary that goes in the newspaper. You will also need to know who will be the pall bearers. If the funeral home is handling the whole thing at their facility you can set a date and time. If you are taking it to your church the Pastor needs to be called to see when the Church is available.
Now to set a date and time. This sounds simple enough but when there are siblings the decision has to be mutual. Do you want a day for viewing and a day for memorial service or do you want it all in one day? If you have family members out of state that also needs to be a factor. Remember stress level is still very high as you’ve just lost your parent.
OK the date and time is set. Now, to plan the actual memorial service. Call the pastor or speaker that knows your parents the best. You want to give them as much time to prepare as possible.
Go through old and current pictures and make picture boards for your friends to view. You will also want a good picture to set on top of the casket.
Knowing what kind of music your parents like is a plus. Play music they would like, not what you like. It’s still their day even though they’ve passed away. Incorporate the music in a power point presentation of pictures of your parents’ life. It’s such a wonderful tribute.

Tips & Warnings

We had to do all this for my dad so my mom pre-paid and prearranged a lot of her funeral making it so much easier. You might want to do that for your family.

Best Medicare Supplement

Here’s an easy step-by-step guide to finding the best Medicare Supplement (also referred to as Medigap).

Most people want coverage for what they are paying out of their own pocket for Medicare’s co-insurance, co-pays and deductibles – and they want that coverage at the lowest possible price.

Here’s a secret that could save you a lot of time, money and effort – it’s one of the biggest differences in Medicare Supplement plans. Each insurer can sell the exact same Medicare Supplement plans at a different price!

Medicare Supplement plans are standardized so if you buy Plan F, for instance, from any insurer, you’ll get the same coverage, but you may find it at a much lower price with comparison-shopping.

You can get professional help to compare Medicare supplement plans from the Medicare planning team at MediGap Advisors. With years of experience in Medicare Supplement insurance, these experts know Medicare Supplement plans and the insurers offering them.

Just call MediGap Advisors at 866-681-7712 to get the answers you need and find the best Medicare Supplement plans. MediGap Advisors can help you sort through the 10 Medicare Supplement plans now available by comparing your situation and needs to the benefits of each plan. They’ll take a look at your biggest health care expenses and show you the best Medicare Supplement plans to protect you from charges that Medicare doesn’t cover.

If hospital care is a big concern for you, you’ll need coverage for Medicare’s Part A ,100 deductible because you have to spend that much out-of-pocket per illness before Medicare pays for hospital bills. You can take care of the Part A deductible with any one of nine Medicare Supplement plans.

If you spend a lot on doctor office visits, you have to meet an annual Part B deductible before Medicare pays for your doctor bills. The best Medicare Supplement plans, the ones with the most comprehensive coverage, reimburse you for the Part B deductible.

Medicare Supplement plans C and F will reimburse you for that deductible regardless of how much it is in any given year.

Medicare pays for 80% of a pre-approved amount for doctors’ services, after the Part B deductible has been met. You can choose from seven of the best Medicare Supplement plans to pay for the 20% that’s left.

Your doctor may charge more for a procedure than Medicare will pay. When Medicare covers 80% of a pre-approved amount, Medigap covers 20% of the same pre-approved amount. Your doctor could charge a lot more than Medicare’s pre-approved amount and leave you to make up the difference.

The best Medicare Supplement plans help with doctor’s excess charges. Medigap Plan G pays for 80% of any doctor charges above what Medicare will pay. For a slightly higher premium, Plan F will cover 100% of these excess charges.

The best Medicare Supplement plans help whenever Medicare doesn’t completely cover your health care expenses. That includes doctor and hospital bills, but it also helps with skilled nursing facilities and even emergency care when you’re traveling out of the country.

If you have to go to a skilled nursing facility, Medicare will cover 20 days of care in a skilled nursing facility following hospitalization. You have to meet your Part A deductible before Medicare picks up the charges. After 20 days, you have to pay for a portion the daily costs from day 21 through 100, but eight Medigap plans will pay your share for those days.

If you travel abroad, Medicare has no coverage at all for any emergency medical care outside of the country. You can travel safely with several of the best Medicare Supplement plans. They will cover 80% of your emergency medical care during the first 60 days you’re abroad, with a 0 deductible.

The best Medicare Supplement plans cover your costs whenever Medicare will not pay.

To find the plan that’s just right for you, list your biggest health care costs and see which Medicare Supplement plans cover those charges for the lowest premiums. After you compare Medicare Supplement plans, compare the prices different insurers are offering on the plan you like most.

You can save a lot of time and effort with free professional advice from the Medicare Supplement experts.

As the nation’s leading independent agency specializing in Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap plans), MediGap Advisors can show you how you can save money with the best Medigap plans that fit your needs and your situation.

Your marketing plan’s objective is to outline and identify advertising strategies that are most effective in reaching parents in your local area and induce them to use your services.

In addition, a marketing plan allows you to fully understand your local market in terms of needs (e.g. infant care versus preschool) and advertising taste (e.g. flyers versus word-of-mouth). By better understanding your target customer, it ensures that you are able to use marketing messages and advertising channels that meets your customers’ psychological needs. This eliminates waste, increases the chance of advertising success and allows you to spend advertising dollars effectively.

Finally, The process of writing a marketing plan is an important exercise. Critical factors that contributes to the success of your daycare business are often uncovered during the write-up of your marketing plan. In other words, the thinking process involved in the development of a marketing plan will help you identify factors and strategies that are important to your daycare business.

In summary, a marketing plan allows you to gain an in-depth knowledge of your local market or community your daycare serves. This in-depth knowledge creates a competitive advantage by allowing you: (1) to create childcare services that better meet the needs of the community and (2) to communicate the advantages of your services to your customers using appropriate advertising channels and messages they will find appealing.

To learn more about writing a marketing plan, you may want to use the Internet as a resource. In general, however, your marketing plan at the very least should include:

Analysis of your competitors. This allows you to identify your competitive advantages over your competitors, allowing you to highlight the value of your services to parents.

Customer’s buying behavior. This allows you to identify the decision factors used by parents when choosing a daycare. By understanding this, you will be able to develop advertising messages that is appealing to parents.

Advertising channels. Document advertising channels (e.g. flyers) that you can use in your local market.

However, life is busy and the not having all the ingredients for a healthy, home-cooked meal can sabotage the best intensions of a parent.  Planning a weekly, flexible menu for a weeks’ worth of meals and leftovers is the key to balancing time and effort for a busy family.  Here are some tips to simplifying your meal planning at home:

1.   Simple Meal Planning Starts with a Pencil and Paper

To make a good plan work, you need to write it down.  In the case of meal planning, sit down with pencil and paper and work out the upcoming weekly meals.  Determine which days will be more hectic than others and plan quick meals for those days.  On days with no after dinner commitments, plan meals that are fresh and easy to make.  In planning your meals, make sure you use ingredients that can be saved in case some meals are not made.  Chicken breasts fall into this category as they can be frozen now or they can be cooked and used in later meals.

2.   Use What You Have for Simple Meal Planning

It is unfortunate when food goes to waste.  When sitting down to plan your meals, look to what you already have in your kitchen and then work them into your meals.  Check your vegetable drawers in your refrigerator.  Tomatoes, green peppers, celery, and carrots make for a nice salad.  If any of your meals include pasta sauce, an omelet, or a soup, many of your leftovers can be added to make a great meal.

3.   Simple Meal Planning Should Include Fresh Foods

Everything does taste better when it is fresh.  To find fresh foods, think about what season you are in and what is abundant in your fresh produce store.  Food that is in season such as fresh fruit during the spring and early summer are great choices to add to your meal planning.  Many times the fresh produce will taste better and save you money.

4.   Simple Meal Planning Needs a Complete Grocery List

After sitting down and making your meal plans, begin to write down a grocery list based on the menu in front of you.  Take that completed grocery list and do the shopping for those meals at the beginning of the week.  Take your meal planner that you wrote in the beginning and post it in your kitchen.  Check it before going to bed each night to be sure to defrost any ingredient for the next days meal.  Following the meal plan is not always important as things come up during the week.  If that happens, juggle the menu around to accommodate those changes.

5.   Take a Night Off From Simple Meal Planning

Some nights it is just not fun to have a planned meal.  These are the times to give you and your family the night off.  Be spontaneous and cook breakfast for dinner instead.  Whip up some pancakes and eggs for a quick and easy dinner.
